Log Cabin Workshop

Today I was booked in to an all day workshop at one of my favourite quilt shops, Thread Bear. The class was run by co-owner Kate & including myself she had seven pupils all raring to get going with our washing line..... yep.... thats right, I said WASHING LINE!!!!!

Kate was showing us a quick technique to make our log cabin blocks & it was called a washing line method. I've never heard of it before but I can confirm that I will be using it (quite a bit) in the future :)

In total I made 16 blocks today & I love the way they turned out. I may make a few more depending on how much of the pink fabric I have remaining & then I have to work out what design I want to piece the blocks in & then choose a border fabric..... both decisions could take months to come to a decision LOL

WIP Wednesday

A quick post today to share a couple of quilt WIP's that I have on the go.

The first is a drunkards path bag. This bag is part of a course I'm doing on curved seams. I'm about a week behind everyone else due to my holiday but I should be all caught up before next week :)

The second is the BOM quilt from my quilt group Shirley Quilters. All the blocks are now complete & the sashing is also complete. I have two borders that are all cut & ready to stitch. Hopefully this will be finished in the very near future as it's being displayed at an exhibition on 15th November!!!!

There are lots of other WIP Wednesdays for you to check out, just pop over to Freshly Pieced & have a look at all the linkys at the bottom of the post... enjoy :)

A New Toy :)

The day before I went on holiday I visited the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace in London.

I made several purchases but only one that I'm going to share with you today.

My new sewing machine. A Jenome Memory Craft 5900QC. I love it :)

I bought some other bits at the show too but haven't got around to photographing them yet, hopefully soon.

Happy stitching :)
