A Long Time Coming.

Finally I've completed a Lizzie*Kate cross stitch that was started in January 2010, worked on for about 4 months & then relegated to the WIP pile for... Oooooo.... about a year (eek!). I picked it up again a few months ago & got cracking again, determined to have it up this christmas & here it is.

It'll be finished as a wall hanging but alas I won't be doing that part myself. I'm going to be leaving it to the lovely Karen V over at My Favourite Things.... just as soon as I can actually make it to a post office!!!!

Happy stitching :)

Oooops, I did it again!

Yet more stash.... yikes! This latest haul follows a trip to the Stitch & Creative Crafts Show at Sandown Park. I went with my stitching friend Franney & while we were there we met up with two other crafty friends from CTnY forum, Noo & Jessica.

Fat Quarter bundles from Sunflower Corner Quilting

3 x Patterns from the Stitch Witch
Fusible Bias Tape in Gold from the Stitch Witch

This next photo is some stash that I bought just after christmas when we were out on a little drive & found ourselves in Tunbridge Wells right in front of The World Of Sewing AND it just happened to be 25% off all fabric day... woohoo :-)

2 x Blush Charm Packs
2 x Cosy Quilt Designs Quilt Patterns
2 x Metres each of some lovely funky fabric

On the CTnY forum I've signed up to make a project every month using just fabrics from stash. I'm hoping to make a little bag every month. This is Januarys bag. My best description of it is a make up bag or bits n bobs bag or project bag....not sure really but it is fully lined in Navy Blue with hidden seams & is quilted all over. It measures approx 9in x 8in tall & could be yours for £7.99 :-)

Happy Stitching :-)

My First Quilt & An Exhibition

It occured to me the other day that I never did share with you my finished first ever quilt. This was a sampler quilt that I did at an evening class at a LNS at the beginning of this year. Some of the stitching is not the best but I'm really proud of this quilt. It's for my baby boy.

The other thing about this quilt is that i'm going to be entering it into an exhibition :-) It'll be the first time I've entered anything into an exhibition so I'm quite excited. I have two entries, the other one is the christmas table runner in the post below this one. Just in case anyone happens to be in the area... details of the exhibition are as follows.

Shirley Quilters Exhibition
Saturday 9th October 2010
10.00am to 4.00pm
Entrance £2.50 Programme 50p
Shirley Methodist Church, Eldon Avenue, Shirley, CR0 8SD
www.shirleyquilters.co.uk

Maybe I'll see you there.

Happy Stitching :-)

2010 - A New Start

I was in two minds to do the 2010 Challenge this year. In 2008 I didn't finish either of the pieces that I started for the challenge & in 2009 I didn't even sign up for any. But having spent the latter half of 2009 getting myself back into my all time favourite past time I made a rather late decision to take part... and I did it... I started a nice new design on 1st January. It's Sweet Dreams by Cinnamon Cat & it's for my little boy.

I'm taking part in a few challenges this year & I'm looking forward to working on all of them. I have a 5 day cruise booked with my mum which we've already designated a "stitching holiday", I am sooooo looking forward to that... roll on June.

2009 Finishes
Baby Love by Cinnamon Cat. My only finish this year, my only finish for 2 years for that matter.

2010 Goals/Challenges
Ultimately to finish more than I did in 2009 :-)
Jan 1st Challenge - Sweet Dreams, Cinnamon Cat
UFO Challenge - Cindarella is Proof, Lizzie*Kate
Christmas Design SAL - Merry Christmas By The Letter, Lizzie*Kate
I've Started UFO - Was Christmas Trees but I think I'm going to change that this evening.
I would also like to complete the Festive Biscornu from Polstitches Designs & do at least one (if not two) pages on my HAED Dragon Riders.

Well there it is, that's what I would like to do, only time will tell if I get anywhere. I'll do my best to post regular updates & pictures. All pictures will be found in my WIP folder down the right hand side of my blog & once I get going I'll start a new folder for my HAED.

Happy New Year

A Finish :-)

It's late & I'm tired so just a quick post to share a picture. My first finished piece of cross stitch for at least 18 months. I am well chuffed & can't wait to enjoy another.

Almost Done

I've been busy :-)

"Baby Love" has suddenly come to life with a bit of backstitch, not much left now. I was hoping to get it finished next week but we have house guests so you'll have to just watch this space for further progress.

My other finish is not cross stitch related but is instead a little bag. A baby tote measuring 8 inches square & made using some fabric that I had "in stock" :-)

Our little room which has housed our computers since we moved in is rapidly becoming my new craft/stitching room. We've moved a drop-side table from downstairs up here which is now the new home for my sewing machine & either side of the table I have 2 of my stitching boxes. DH was kind enough to put up 2 new shelves above my desk so I have DMC Gold Concept thread folders on the top shelf along with a folder containing charts from some magazines & a selection of books that include knitting, quilting & cross stitch (& some World of Warcraft books... loosely craft related!!). I'm feeling quite at home :-)

Little Happy Dance!

Finally I have a completion for 2008. Only problem is that I can't quite share that with you yet as it's to be finished into a gift so I need to wait until it's been received before I can post a piccie :-)

Started back on the Welcome House from Cinnamon Cat... really need to get this finished before March & it's creeping up on me kind of quick now, still, made some more progress on it today & hopefully will get some more done later this week.
