YAYYYYY, Finished Quilts

Finally I have not one but TWO finished quilts.  Both of these have been a work in progress for this year & today they were on display at my quilt groups exhibition & I love them both.

The first is Notting Hill Meets New York.  Named because the fabric range is called Notting Hill & the block used is New York Beauty.  This quilt was started in January at the planning phase, final quilting took place in September.

The second is Red & White Waterwheel.  The waterwheel blocks were made by my quilt group & we had a raffle which I won.  Then it was down to me how I completed a quilt using these blocks.  I found that for a couple of years I've been collecting red & white fabric cuts, strips & charms.  I decided that this would be the perfect project to use them, as the strips I have are made of so many different shades & patterns of red that they'd go brilliantly with the mixture of the waterwheels.

Autumn Upon Us

Judging by the feel of todays weather our summer is well & truly over.  Most of my summer was taken up with entertaining the twins 24/7 & very little else, least of all sewing in any way, shape & form.

Our adorable children have now started school & are in Reception year.  They are in different classes so not only are they getting used to going to school everyday & the challenges that come with it, they are also getting used to being apart from each other for a large portion of the day.  They still see each other at breaks, play time & lunch time so hopefully it'll be a positive experience for them both.

Sunday just gone I was stewarding at the Quilters Guild Region 2 quilt exhibition, it was a busy event with the some lovely quilts, including this rather unusual bargello style quilt.  The rest of the pictures you can see on my facebook page.

Wealden Quilt Show (image heavy)

On Friday myself & Franney went for a, not so, quick drive to Crowborough, just past Royal Tunbridge Wells.  Here we were visiting the Wealden Quilt Show and these are some of the lovely quilts that we saw there.

I have to start by telling you about the quilt I voted for as my 'visitors choice' quilt.  Whist taking photos a lady commented that I was taking a picture of her 'Quillow'. A quillow being a quilt that all folds up nice & neatly into a cushion that is hiding attached to the back of the quilt (must make some of these!). Anyway, I asked if she made the other quillow on display & she gestered towards her grandaughter, 9 year old Ellie.  I loved Ellies' quilt, I loved her story of her making the quilt & I love that I got to meet her & she allowed me to take her photo to put on my blog.  So Ellie, a huge well done.... you got my vote :)

Quilt Exhibition (image heavy)

Sunday just past myself & Franney headed off to Sevenoaks to peruse the quilt exhibition that is put together by Puddleducks quilt shop & Quercus quilt group.  The lovely thing about exhibitions is you get to see so many quilts of all shapes, sizes, colours & quite often the same quilt in different fabrics which is always nice for an instant comparison.

Here are some of the quilts that I really enjoyed viewing.

I'll share more later.
Happy stitching :)

Quilt Group Mini Exhibition

Yesterday we had a mini exhibition at my quilt group, Shirley Quilters, & part of the exhibition was all the completed Block Of the Month quilts thats we'd been working on since January. I literally finished the binding on mine at around 22.15 Monday evening. So here it is, finally, my completed BOM quilt. I also went around & took photos of the other BOM quilts so you can see what other people achieved with the same blocks.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the quilts :)
