YAYYYYY, Finished Quilts

Finally I have not one but TWO finished quilts.  Both of these have been a work in progress for this year & today they were on display at my quilt groups exhibition & I love them both.

The first is Notting Hill Meets New York.  Named because the fabric range is called Notting Hill & the block used is New York Beauty.  This quilt was started in January at the planning phase, final quilting took place in September.

The second is Red & White Waterwheel.  The waterwheel blocks were made by my quilt group & we had a raffle which I won.  Then it was down to me how I completed a quilt using these blocks.  I found that for a couple of years I've been collecting red & white fabric cuts, strips & charms.  I decided that this would be the perfect project to use them, as the strips I have are made of so many different shades & patterns of red that they'd go brilliantly with the mixture of the waterwheels.

In Love With Prince Charming

Prince Charming is a wonderful fabric range from the equally wonderful designer, Tula Pink.

When I was at Festival of Quilts back in August I was lucky enough to meet her & she signed a copy of her book for me.  I totally fell in love with almost all of her fabric ranges & especially Prince Charming.  It was then that I decided I wanted to use the range for this years college project.

This years college project for me is an on-point sampler where the blocks are made using foundation piecing.  I had an image of this project on my mobile phone & once I'd decided to use the Prince Charming range I went back to Tula & asked her opinions on the fabric choice, possible back ground colours & connecting blocks.  I can't wait to get started :)

I'll post progress updates on the quilt once I get started.

Autumn Upon Us

Judging by the feel of todays weather our summer is well & truly over.  Most of my summer was taken up with entertaining the twins 24/7 & very little else, least of all sewing in any way, shape & form.

Our adorable children have now started school & are in Reception year.  They are in different classes so not only are they getting used to going to school everyday & the challenges that come with it, they are also getting used to being apart from each other for a large portion of the day.  They still see each other at breaks, play time & lunch time so hopefully it'll be a positive experience for them both.

Sunday just gone I was stewarding at the Quilters Guild Region 2 quilt exhibition, it was a busy event with the some lovely quilts, including this rather unusual bargello style quilt.  The rest of the pictures you can see on my facebook page.

Vacation Cross Stitch

Well the summer is almost over here, it hasn't been a great one, far more rain than sunshine & really busy keeping the twins entertained all day, everyday.  As you can imagine, not an awful lot of sewing or stitching has been taking place over the last 6 weeks.  I did managed to take some Cross Stitch on our holiday, I even managed to finish a piece too :)

First up is Lizzie*Kate - Normal Is Just A Setting On The Washer.  This was started on 4th January 2012.  The first pictures shows my progress when at the start of my holiday & the second picture shows it completed.

Next up is Lizzie*Kate - Boo Club!.  Again the first picture is progress at the start of our holiday & the second is progress at the end of the holiday.  I'm totally unsure if this will be complete by Halloween of this year but you never know!

Another busy couple of weeks ahead while we prepare for the twins to start school & after that it'll be business as usual & the sewing frenzy will begin.

Don't forget that you can keep up-to-date with what I'm doing on my Facebook page too, I'm there almost every day (between playing with dolls houses, cars, lego & playing referee!) with little snippets of sewing, cross stitching, quilting, selling, fabric & all the fun stuff.
